Commander Ka Xiong

Cmdr. Ka Xiong is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, and a 2009 graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in oceanography. She was commissioned as a surface warfare officer and re-designated as an information warfare officer in 2010.  She graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science degree in meteorology and physical oceanography in 2019.

Her operational and afloat tours include repair division officer and anti-submarine warfare officer on USS Mustin (DDG 89) from 2009-2011; Naval Oceanography and Anti-Submarine Center Yokosuka team lead from 2011-2014; Fleet survey team military hydrographer from 2014-2016; and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 8 meteorologist and oceanographer from 2019-2011.
 
Ashore, she served as the Navy Information Operations Command Whidbey Island executive officer from 2021-2023 and Fleet Weather Center San Diego operations officer from 2023-2025.
 
She began serving as commanding officer of the Center for Naval Aviation and Technical Training Unit Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, in May 2025.
 
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other service and unit awards.  
 
She is also a 2014 graduate of the International Hydrographic Management and Engineering Program.
