Lieutenant Commander Kelli A.W. Lewis

Lt. Cdr. Lewis grew up in Katy, Texas, and attended Cypress Springs High School. From there, she attended the University of Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Arts in International Security Studies and commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program in May 2011. 

Afloat, Lt. Cdr. Lewis served as auxiliaries officer on USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) from October 2011 to September 2013 and completed an eight month independent deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility. Lt. Cdr. Lewis fleeted up onboard USS Vella Gulf after completing the Surface Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Warfare Tactics Instructor program in 2013, and served as the ASW officer from December 2013 to November 2015 during which time USS Vella Gulf deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility and completed Joint Warrior 14-1. She served onboard USS Russell (DDG 59) as operations officer in June 2020. During this time, USS Russell deployed twice with the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility, completed Northern Edge 21, and she was a finalist for the 2021 Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) of the Year. Lt. Cdr. Lewis completed her second department head tour as the combat systems officer onboard USS Russell in March 2023. 

Ashore, Lt. Cdr. Lewis received her Master of Arts from the Naval Postgraduate School in National Security Affairs (Middle East.) Lt. Cdr.. Lewis graduated from Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor (IAMD WTI) class 17020 and served as an instructor at Surface Warfare Officer’s School (SWOS) Maritime Warfare Directorate (N73), where she taught air and missile defense and information operations. Most recently she served as course of instruction lead at the Surface Advanced Warfighting School (SAWS) from April 2023 to May 2025 teaching across all four WTI patch curriculums. Lt. Cdr. Lewis reported to Mariner Skills Training Center Pacific as Executive Officer in July 2025.

Her military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, along with various other unit and campaign awards.
