Captain Ronald “Ron” Hatt

Capt. Ronald “Ron” Hatt is a native of Bieber, California. After enlisting in the Navy in 1990 and serving on two submarines as a nuclear-trained mechanic, he was accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1999. He graduated from The Citadel, summa cum laude, in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He has since earned his Master of Science in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation from the Naval Postgraduate School.
His first sea assignment was aboard USS Tennessee (Blue) (SSBN 734) in King’s Bay, Georgia. His department head tour was on USS Hamtpon (SSN 767) as the combat systems officer homeported in San Diego, California. He served his executive officer tour onboard USS Greenville (SSN 772) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Most recently, he had the honor and privilege of serving as the commanding officer of USS Illinois (SSN 786) homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Capt. Hatt served ashore as a senior member of the Type Command (TYCOM) Readiness Evaluation team, as the executive assistant to the commander, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet, as the deputy commander of Submarine Squadron Fifteen in Guam, and most recently as the director of sensitive activities and special programs at Commander, United States Pacific Fleet.
Capt. Hatt has earned the Legion of Merit (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), in addition to several unit awards.
