Lt. Col. James P. Psyhogis

Lieutenant Colonel James P. Psyhogis is a native of Watertown, Massachusetts.  In February 2003, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.  Upon graduation, he attended Marine combat training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville where he received a graduate degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development.  He was commissioned through the Officer Candidates School in December 2008.
 
After Marine combat training, he attended MOS schools in Pensacola, Florida and Oceana, Virginia, where he earned the MOS of F/A-18 Aviation Safety Systems Equipment Mechanic (6287).  While attending MOS school at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Oceana, he was meritoriously promoted to lance corporal in 2004.
 
In July 2004, Psyhogis was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 321 at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. He deployed to Karup Air Base, Denmark, in support of NATO Exercise Clean Hunter.  He was promoted to corporal in 2005 and received orders to VMFA-142, Naval Air Station Atlanta, Georgia.  Later in 2005, he deployed to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon his return, he was promoted to sergeant in 2006.
 
In 2008, he was selected for Officer Candidates School, class 199.  After graduating from OCS in December 2008, he reported to Charlie Company, The Basic School (TBS), Quantico, Virginia.  He graduated from TBS in September 2009, where he was awarded the MOS of aviation supply officer and received a meritorious career designation.  From November 2009 to April 2010, he attended the Aviation Supply Officer Course in Athens, Georgia.  Upon completion, he received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 31, Beaufort, South Carolina. While at MALS-31, he served as Supply Accounting Division officer in charge (OIC), Squadron Support Division OIC, Consumables Management Division OIC, and Supply Response Division OIC.  In August 2011, he deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with MALS-40 at Camp Bastion.
 
In May 2012, he reported for duty as the executive officer, Recruiting Station Pittsburgh, serving until July 2016.  He attended Expeditionary Warfare School from July 2016 to May 2017.  From May 2017 to August 2017, he served as an academic instructor at Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia.  In August 2017, he received orders to MALS-12, Iwakuni, Japan, where he served as the AIRSpeed officer.
 
In July 2018, Psyhogis reported for duty as the training team officer, 6th Marine Corps District, Parris Island, Beaufort, South Carolina.  In October 2019, he was selected to serve as the Prior Service Recruiting Station 6 OIC. In June 2021, he received orders to MALS-31, Beaufort, South Carolina, for a Department Head tour as the aviation supply officer.  In June 2023, he became the operations officer for MALS-31.  In June 2024, he received orders to Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as the G-7 Sustainment Branch director and G-8 Aviation Financial Management director.
 
He began serving as commanding officer of CNATTU New River, North Carolina, in June 2025.
 
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).  He is also a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School and Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
