Captain Eric D. Turner

Capt. Eric Turner is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer program and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Leo University.

His sea duty assignments include USS Thomas S. Gates (CG 51); USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20); electronics material officer, USS Crommelin (FFG 37); systems test officer, USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93); weapons officer / combat systems officer; USS Philippine Sea (CG 58); executive officer, USS St. Louis (LCS 19); and most recently, commanding officer, St. Louis BLUE.  His time at sea is over 15 years, through nine major deployments.

His shore tours include Fleet Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck, as instructor for the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System "C" School; Service School Command, Great Lakes, as a chief fire controlman, at the Fire Controlman "A" School; FFG Classron, N6; Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, N554; Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 2, N6; and most recently, officer in charge at Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) Det Southeast. 

His Individual Augmentee assignments include U.S. Central Command, J3C Interoperability and Commander, Task Force 51, N5, Bahrain.   

Turner reported as commanding officer, SCSTC Mayport in December 2024.

Turner’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
