Lieutenant Commander Daniel J. Boltz

Lt. Cmdr. Boltz is a native of Augusta, Michigan and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2003.  Following basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, he completed Advanced Electronics Technical Core, Electronics Technician “A” School and numerous electronics “C” schools.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from Fort Hays State University in 2012 and earned his commission through the Limited Duty Officer program in 2015.   

At sea, Boltz’s enlisted assignments include serving aboard USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) as work center supervisor and USS Ramage (DDG 61) as Combat Electronics leading petty officer (LPO).

His officer assignments at sea include serving aboard USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) as electronics material officer and ship’s maintenance management officer, with two  deployments to U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR); USS Gettysburg (CG 64) as electronics material officer and ship’s maintenance management officer where he was instrumental in the ship’s service life extension program, the first of its kind for a guided missile cruiser on the east coast; and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) as combat systems maintenance officer, with a deployment to U.S. 5th Fleet AOR.

Ashore, Boltz served as an instructor, LPO, Data Link Communications System Maintenance Technician course supervisor at Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit Dam Neck (now Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) Hampton Roads).  He also served as the Navy liaison officer at Rock Island Arsenal for the Naval Supply Systems Command Ammunition Logistics Center. 

Boltz reported as officer in charge, SCSTC Det Middle Atlantic and SCSTC Det Wallops Island in November 2025.   
 
He earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Officer, Information Warfare Officer, and Master Training Specialist qualifications.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (seven awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
