Lieutenant Gregory M. Shepardson II

Lt. Gregory Shepardson is a native of O’Fallon, Missouri. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2006 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in management and leadership and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Franklin University and earned his commission through the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program in 2017.

At sea, Shepardson’s enlisted assignments include serving aboard USS Taylor (FFG 50) as anti-submarine tactical air controller; USS Dewey (DDG 105) as operations intelligence division’s leading petty officer; and USS Momsen (DDG 92) as combat information center (CIC) officer and assistant operations officer. 

His sea duty officer assignments include serving aboard USS Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001) as the first operations technical LDO where he developed the Combat Systems Training team and led them through their first training cycle, ensuring the CIC team was ready for their upcoming maiden deployment.

He has deployed as part of Standing NATO Maritime Group One to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR); completed an independent deployment to U.S. 6th Fleet; deployed to the U.S. 5th AOR with Carrier Strike Group One in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom; and completed an independent deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet AOR. Shepardson has also participated in many fleet exercises including Noble Midas (2008), Dogu Akdeniz (2008), Valiant Shield (2014), Rim of the Pacific Exercise (2018, 2022), Pacific Griffin (2019), and Submarine Command Course mini-wars (2022).

Ashore, he served as operations, training, and information technology department head at Navy Operations Support Center Wilmington where he provided training, support and administrative oversight to eight reserve units with a drilling population of 124 reservists.

Shepardson reported as officer in charge, Surface Combat Systems Training Command Det Pacific Northwest in August 2023. 
               
He earned his Surface Warfare Officer qualification.  His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
