Commander Bryan Chapman

CDR Chapman is a native of Wadsworth, Ohio. He enlisted in the Navy in November 2004 as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate. He was commissioned in 2010 through the Seaman-to-Admiral 21 program. He earned a Master’s in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.
At sea, CDR Chapman served aboard USS Annapolis (SSN-760). Additional sea duty included service aboard Mississippi (SSN-782), as a plank owner, holding multiple division officer roles during the ship’s construction and modernization. He also served on USS San Juan (SSN-751) as Navigator, later relieving as Engineer Officer and overseeing 18 months of dry-dock maintenance before returning the ship to operational duty. He served on aboard USS Hartford (SSN-768), as the Weapons Officer.
Ashore, CDR Chapman served as Shift Engineer at Nuclear Power Training Unit, and as Weapons Officer at the Naval Submarine School. He served as Officer in Charge of Historic Ship Nautilus (SSN-571) and Director of the Submarine Force Library and Museum, overseeing preservation and display of submarine history.
CDR Chapman reported as executive officer at Naval Submarine School in November 2025.
His personal decorations include the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and service awards.
