Lieutenant Commander Garret Walton

Lt. Cmdr. Garret Walton is a native of Salt Lake City. He graduated from University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. Walton also earned a master’s degree in computer science from Naval Postgraduate School.

His operational tours include deployment with USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) as the information systems and interim combat systems officer and a stint aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) as combat systems information officer.

Ashore, Walton served at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Guam, where he acted first as division officer for the Technical Control Facility, followed by Local Network Support Center deputy director; and Cryptologic Warfare Activity 67, where he was tasked to National Security Agency as Blue Team operations director.

Walton reported to Information Warfare Training Command Virginia Beach, Virginia, as executive officer in February 2026.

In addition to his academic degrees, he is a warfare tactics instructor for assured command and control. Personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards).
