Rear Admiral Peter A. Garvin

Commander, Naval Education and Training Command

Rear Adm. Pete Garvin graduated with merit from the United States Naval Academy in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics). He is also a 2005 graduate of the National War College, with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy and a 2015 alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI.

Rear Admiral Scott W. Ruston

Deputy Commander, Naval Education and Training Command

Rear Adm. Scott W. Ruston is a native of Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He is a 1992 graduate of Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and his commission through Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps. He holds a Ph.D. in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California, and is a graduate of both the Air Command and Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College.

Captain Keith L. Beck

Chief of Staff and Commanding Officer Flag Unit, Naval Education and Training Command

Capt. Keith Beck, a native of Milton, Delaware, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1985. Following recruit training at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Yeoman “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi. He was commissioned as an ensign through the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) Program in March 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration cum laude from Saint Leo University and a Master of Business Administration from Aspen University.

Mr. Kent Miller

Executive Director, Naval Education and Training Command

Mr. Kent Miller began his military career 1975, enlisting in the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. After completing “A” school and Advanced First Term Avionics training in Millington, Tennessee, he completed Level 1 cryptographic repair school located in Mare Island, California. Miller holds a bachelors and master’s degree in Business Administration.

Force Master Chief Matthew Harris

Force Master Chief, Naval Education and Training Command

Force Master Chief Matthew Harris, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1988. He attended recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, and completed Naval Submarine School. His academic achievements include the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 158 Brown; Chief of the Boat (COB)/Command Master Chief (CMC) Capstone course; MCPON Executive Leadership Course; and the National Defense University Keystone Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston and is qualified in submarine and information warfare.
