Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

OSU NROTC Marine Receives Award

220629-N-NO450-0002 COLUMBUS, Ohio (June 29, 2022) – United States Navy Capt. Darrell S. Canady, commanding officer of The Ohio State University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) unit and professor of Naval Science, presented a Secretary of the Navy approved Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal to U. S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jason Day outside the unit’s building during a small awards ceremony. According to the award citation, “Sergeant Day demonstrated outstanding leadership and initiative by rendering lifesaving aid to an unconscious victim at a local retail store.” Day, from Canton, Ohio, is entering his second year in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Program with the unit.
