Mr. Larry A. McFarland

Mr. Larry McFarland was born and raised in Colorado, graduated from Jacksonville University, and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program in 1984.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and in Marine Science, and he has a Master of Science in Community Health/Occupational Medicine.  He completed twenty years of military service in 2004.

Military tours of duty included: Naval Nuclear Power School; Surface Warfare Officer’s School; USS SHENANDOAH (AD 44); Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit No.2; USS HUNLEY (AS 31); Naval Safety Center; Staff of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; NROTC Unit Hampton Roads; NAVOSH & Environmental Training Center; and Staff of Commander, Naval Personnel Development Command.

He entered Federal Civil Service in 2004 following retirement from active duty.  Prior to assuming his current duties, his civil service positions included Director of Training Support at the Naval Personnel Development Command; Safety, Environmental and Facilities Director at Commander, Submarine Force; and Director of Training at the Center for Security Forces.  He assumed his current assignment as Executive Director in November 2007.
