GREAT LAKES, Ill. (March 7, 2023) Recruits have uniform items inspected by their Recruit Division Commander at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command. Boot camp is approximately 10 weeks and all enlistees into the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training includes five warfighting competencies of firefighting, damage control, seamanship, watchstanding, and small arms handling and marksmanship along with physical fitness and lessons in Navy heritage and core values, Warrior Toughness, Life Skills, teamwork and discipline. (March 2, 2023) Naval Junior ROTC cadets from Zion-Benton Township High School practice line handling aboard USS White Hat, the Boatswain’s Mate “A” School trainer, at Surface Warfare Engineering School Command at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill.
