Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Assistant Secretary of the Navy (RD&A) Visits Units in Pacific Northwest

Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research Development, and Acquisition James F. Geurts tours a submarine trainer at Trident Training Facility Bangor, Nov. 17. As the authority for all Navy acquisition functions, programs and weapons systems, Geurts visited strategic-deterrent units in the Pacific Northwest to see current operations, training and maintenance facilities fist-hand, and to discuss ongoing preparations and planning for the new Columbia class of ballistic-missile submarines.
