Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

ODS students participate in Memorial Day ceremony

220530-N-WT203-0004 NEWPORT, R.I. (May 30, 2022) Students from Officer Development School (ODS) class 22050 stand in ranks at a Memorial Day remembrance ceremony hosted by the Newport, R.I. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 406. The Strewing of Flowers ceremony paid tribute to those who lost their lives at sea in service to their country. The five-week ODS program is a subset of Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN) and prepares staff corps officers and several restricted line designators to function in their role as newly commissioned Naval officers.
