220409-N-IK959-2208, SEATTLE (April 9, 2022) – U. S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Matthew Boyd, Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI) for the University of Utah Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) inspects the University of Idaho/Washington State NROTC drill platoon on a University of Washington soccer field during the 2022 Northwest Navy competition, April 9. More than 250 NROTC students and staff members from the Universities of Idaho/Washington State, Oregon State, Utah and Washington competed in military drill, academic and athletic events at the one-day contest. Northwest Navy has been held on a rotating basis between the schools since 1957. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this was the first time all units were able to compete in person since 2019. (U. S.
