Iowa State University NROTC Breaks Ground On New Unit Obstacle Course

AMES, Iowa (Sept. 2, 2022) The Iowa State University and Reserve Officer Training Command unit members participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lt. Col. Richard H. Burnett, Sr. USMC Memorial Obstacle Course on the campus here Sept. 2. The groundbreaking included Iowa Senator Joni Ernst (third from right), ISU Navy ROTC Commanding Officer, Captain Joey Frantzen (second from right), ISU President Wendy Wintersteen (fourth from left), and the son of ISU alumni, Lt. Col. Burnett, Rick (third from left). The obstacle course will be designed and built to the exact specifications of United States Marine Corps courses on bases around the world and will allow ISU ROTC units to further develop, train and challenge officer candidates.
