(March 23, 2023) NAVAL AIR STATION PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Force Master Chief Richard L. Mengel (center, at podium with microphone), Naval Education and Training Command, speaks to a group Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) staff and students during NATTC’s Barracks of the Month competition March 23. The “USS Nimitz” student barracks won the competition for March. NATTC’s Barracks of the Month competition grades each student barracks on their conduct, watch qualifications, Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions (CSADD) participation, volunteer hours, student of the month ranking, and the winner of the previous month’s barracks chant competition. CSADD is a student-to-student peer mentoring program that encourages positive social interaction and development of leadership and good decision making skills. In response to a question from the audience, Mengel spoke about the importance of Sailors and Marines learning and growing on a daily basis, and understanding that the U.S. Navy is a "team sport," as they work every day to be a good shipmate.
