The Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center (NETPDC) announced May 26 the selection of Maegan Cook as senior civilian of the quarter (COQ) for the first quarter, calendar year 2021. Cook, who works as an education services specialist for the Navy College Management Information System (NCMIS) program office. Her selection was based on her superior performance and dedication to the Navy College Virtual Education Center (NCVEC) in conducting gap analysis, developing requirements, batch processing tuition assistance, and creating video vignettes for schools and region advisors, among many other tasks.
“One of the best parts of my job is to award our deserving employees,” said St. George. “Not only did Maegan and Tanya do amazing work in their regular duties, but they went above and beyond to provide great support to the stakeholders we serve.”
Cook, who works as an education services specialist for the Navy College Management Information System (NCMIS) program office, is responsible for coordinating with voluntary education (VOLED) stakeholders to maintain and improve the MyNavy Education website.
Cook’s selection was based on her superior performance and dedication to the Navy College Virtual Education Center (NCVEC) in conducting gap analysis, developing requirements, batch processing tuition assistance, and creating video vignettes for schools and region advisors, among many other tasks.
Christopher Cruz, the NCVEC director and Cook’s supervisor, echoed the award citation in describing her dedication to superior performance.
“Maegan is in very rare company,” said Cruz. “I can honestly say that over my 30 year career, I’ve never worked with anyone with more initiative than Maegan. Her dedication and sense of duty are evident in the way she enthusiastically jumps in to lead or assist the team in so many ways, to include high level initiatives such as Salesforce integration, base access, knowledge management and various training initiatives.”
Cook, who has been with NETPDC for two years, is proud of her accomplishment, and enjoys her job of serving Sailors though the Navy College Program.
“I am very humbled by the recognition as senior civilian of the quarter,” said Cook. “Without the professional development opportunities and direct support provided to me by the NCMIS program office team and Navy VOLED leadership, I would not have been able to accomplish nearly as much.”
Hatfield serves as a financial technician for NETPDC’s resources management department, and is responsible for certifying invoices as the local processing office (LPO) in the Wide Area Workflow system.
Hatfield’s selection was based on her superior performance and selfless dedication to NETPDC and the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) program. Her attention to detail was essential for audit readiness as she also certified over $10 million in invoices during the quarter.
Rodney Schreiber, Hatfield’s supervisor, echoed the award citation in describing her dedication to superior performance.
“Tanya is a self-starter,” said Schreiber. “She was selected for her superior performance and selfless dedication to NETPDC and NROTC.”
Hatfield, who has worked in civil service for over 18 years, was both surprised and grateful to receive the award this quarter.
“I am honored to receive this award,” said Hatfield. “It is very satisfying to work at NETPDC and have my work appreciated.”
Both selectees had a vast impact on NETPDC’s continuing mission of serving and advancing Sailors through personal and professional development.
As part of the MyNavy HR Force Development team, NETPDC provides products and services that enable and enhance education, training, career development, and personnel advancement throughout the Navy. Primary elements of the command include the Voluntary Education department, the Navy Advancement Center, and the Resources Management Department.
