The Joint Information Center or JIC is hosted by the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency in partnership with the Hawaii National Guard, and is manned by public information officers from various federal, and state agencies. JIC operations parallel those of the State’s Emergency Operations Center so that every aspect of preparing for, and responding to a natural disaster can be communicated to the public. Using all the tools at their disposal like press releases, phone interviews, social media, and press conferences the Joint information team strives around the clock to insure the residents of Hawaii, are prepared for an impending disaster or or are adequately informed on recovery efforts.
