Private 1st Class Katelyn Thomason graduated from Basic Combat Training 24 April, 2020, at Fort Sill, Okla. She started BCT before the country began placing restrictions for crowd gatherings. Thomason's family made plans before the pandemic to attend the graduation, even buying plane tickets, hotel rooms, and a rental car. Luckily, Fort Sill live streamed the graduation for families to watch. Despite not attending in-person, Thomason's family still made signs and decorated as they watched from their homes in Arkansas and Florida.
