The Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Detachment Camp Pendleton staff and students welcomed their new officer in charge during a ceremony April 30.

With CNATT leadership participating virtually from Pensacola, Florida, Marine Maj. Kyle Kuhn, who was recently promoted to major, assumed command from Marine Maj. Timothy Warren.  Kuhn had previously served as the detachment’s assistant OIC.

Kuhn is clear-eyed and focused on the way ahead for the detachment under his leadership, as they contribute to the overall CNATT mission to develop and deliver aviation training to support fleet requirements.

“My vision is that we support these fleet requirements by focusing on two priorities: the students and the staff,” Kuhn said.  “The students graduate and report to their first fleet squadrons ready to perform basic maintenance actions, and the instructors have the critical mission of training the next generation of aircraft mechanics—many of these young Marines will eventually work for these same instructors in the fleet in the future.”

Kuhn went on to say that teamwork, communication, and adherence to their core values will be keys to realizing his vision.

Warren moves on to Miramar to take over as the maintenance officer at Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101.  He expressed his enjoyment serving as the detachment’s OIC.

“My time at CNATT Detachment Camp Pendleton has been fantastic,” Warren said.  The best parts of my officer career have been in organizational-level squadrons, and this unit gave me another chance to be around the best parts of those units, the Marines.”

Warren added that the detachment support staff and intermediate-level instructors are the “finest in the world.”

“I just feel blessed that I got a chance to lead Marines in the development and delivery of training to the next generation of aviation mechanics and technicians," Warren said.
