Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity (NETSAFA) is the U.S. Navy’s agent for Navy education and training for international military students. Located at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, we coordinate and supply training support to international governments and international organizations. As a field activity of Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), we serve as a focal point for all Security Assistance and Security Cooperation education and training program issues, coordination and advice within the U.S. Navy.

NETSAFA is an integral part of Navy International Programs Office (Navy IPO), therefore we also work with and through the Navy IPO chain of command. We are responsible for partner training support first and foremost, and we will work to assure the best training support for our international customers through Navy, other government institution and organizations, and private industry. We must be advocates for our security assistance customers by interceding with those government institutions and private organizations that impact or have the potential to impact our customer training and training support capability.

Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy for Intelligence and Security Visits CIWT

Victor B. Minella, Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy for Intelligence and Security, met with the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) and Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Corry Station leadership, before speaking with IWTC Corry Station students at the Corry Station chapel on May 15.

Minella received a brief history of the history and current use of Corry Station from the crow’s nest in the CIWT headquarters, before an office call with Cmdr. Christopher Dumas, executive officer, and Cmdr. Pete Manzoli, commanding officer, IWTC Corry Station.

He was also given an overview of the information warfare training CIWT provides, by CIWT and IWTC Corry Station staff. CIWT and IWTC Corry Station’s efforts in the development of the Cyber Warfare workforce was a prominent topic as was the discussion of the development for a new cyber training facility on board IWTC Corry Station to support the Navy and joint force cyber training effort. Minella was also provided an overview of CIWT efforts to expedite the development of information warfare training curriculum as well as revisions to intelligence training already in progress to integrate Defense Intelligence Agency and National Geospatial Agency tradecraft and Geospatial Intelligence curriculum into existing courses.

After the meeting Minella spoke to IWTC Corry Station students about the important role they play in the information warfare community.

He emphasized the importance of embracing naval culture and adaptability as well as the need career growth and leadership for the new generation in the intelligence community.

“Your training and discipline is going to be highly relevant in the information warfare community, Intel, Cryptology, and Cyber,” said Minella. “You are the face of warfare moving forward.”

With four schoolhouse commands, two detachments, and training sites throughout the United States and Japan, Center for Information Warfare Training trains over 26,000 students every year, delivering trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services. Center for Information Warfare Training also offers more than 200 courses for cryptologic technicians, intelligence specialists, information systems technicians, electronics technicians, and officers in the information warfare community.
