Warrior Toughness

Every U.S. Navy Sailor, enlisted or officer, could face life-threatening situations from combat or casualty. Each and every one needs to have the ability to persevere and perform under both immediate danger and long-term stress, both on the job and at home.

Warrior Toughness (WT) is a holistic human performance skillset that enhances the toughness of our Sailors with a focus on the pursuit of peak performance. The system emphasizes coequal development of toughness in the mind, body, and soul. WT combines performance psychology skills with character development, and teaches the Warrior Mindset, whose concepts were initially developed by members of the Naval Special Warfare community.

Designed to increase the Navy’s warfighting capabilities, WT is an enabler of the Culture of Excellence as part of the first line of effort – Developing a Lethal Warfighting Force. In place at Recruit Training Command since October 2018, the curriculum is now incorporated across all Navy accessions at Officer Training Command Newport, the United States Naval Academy and the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. WT will improve the performance of Sailors under stress and throughout their everyday lives, building lethal warfighters ready for the next mission.

The Kosovo Police and Kosovo Forces Soldiers worked together this past week to donate toys to students in Kosovo. It was all part of the ‘Toys of Aloha’ event, the first toy donation event representing the partnership between the Kosovo Police and KFOR Soldiers from the Hawaii Army National Guard.

“I’m so glad we could work on this project together. especially on this big day. Valentines Day is really to share the love.” Lt. Col. Aferdita Mikullovci, Kosovo Police Director

“I’m very pleased with the event and how the Kosovo Police took charge of it. When I see their smiles and their laughter with the toys in hand. It just makes me very happy that we did this,” Lt. Col. Michael Caraang, Effects Chief, MNBG-East, HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.

While many were spending their Valentines Day with their special someone, these Kosovo Police Officers and KFOR Soldiers were spending their day with some special children. It all took place at the "Mother Theresa" Resource Center for Teaching and Counseling, where they handed out toys to the special needs students to spread love and happiness to the children. The Soldiers helped collect over 500 toys to donate and will continue to work with the Kosovo Police to deliver the toys to children across Kosovo.

“It’s a special feeling. If we can make someone smile, at least one person in a day, I think we are achieving our mission,” Lt. Col. Aferdita Mikullovci, Kosovo Police Director

“How we call it the aloha spirit. We can come together, especially for the kids. Showing good will through out the community. When the kids walk through with that smile, it made my whole day,” Lt. Col. Michael Caraang, Effects Chief, MNBG-East, Hawaii Army National Guard

Reporting from Mitrovica, I’m Army Corporal Aven Santiago.
