Entry-level indoctrination for newly-selected EDs covers Department of Defense acquisition topics and life cycle engineering of its ships and systems. Graduates earn credit for Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) courses, which are typically required to get certified.

Mid-career training focuses on engineering management and leadership techniques and lessons learned, in addition to the latest developments in the community, for newly selected EDO commanders.
