Captain Philip E. Malone

Commanding Officer, Engineering Duty Officer School

Capt. Malone graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering Systems. After completing the nuclear power training pipeline and Surface Warfare Officers School, he initially served as a surface warfare officer and later laterally transferred to the engineering duty officer (EDO) community. Malone earned an Engineer’s degree and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2000, graduating with distinction and receiving the Surface Navy Association Award for Outstanding Research.

Commander Danny Soria

Executive Officer, Engineering Duty Officer School

Cmdr. Danny Soria, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, received his commission in 2004 upon graduating from the US Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Astrospace Engineering. He earned a Master of Astrospace Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School. Additionally, he earned a Master in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Timothy Haney

Executive Director, Engineering Duty Officer School

Timothy Haney, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduated in 1994 from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was commissioned through the NROTC program and selected for the engineering duty officer (EDO) community as an EDO option candidate. He earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in. Haney rose to the rank of commander during his 21-year active-duty career.
