Mariner Skills Training Center Atlantic

Mariner Skills Training Center, Atlantic (MSTCLANT) is located at Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk, Virginia.  As a result of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations Surface Force Comprehensive Review, Surface Warfare Schools Command received direction to establish and develop comprehensive mariner skills training centers to correct and improve upon deficiencies cited in the comprehensive review.

Specifically identified were gaps in the way seamanship and navigation skills are developed and assessed on an individual and team basis and the use of ship handling and navigation trainers.

MSTCLANT was established on Oct. 1, 2020.

To ready sea-bound warriors to serve on surface combatants possessing the shiphandling and navigation skills to fulfill the Navy’s mission of maintaining global maritime superiority.

To learn more about course information and schedules, military personnel may log into the online Catalog of Navy Training Courses (CANTRAC) with a Common Access Card (CAC).

1. Go to CANTRAC (CAC login required) to reach the CANTRAC Volume II site for schedules and course information.
2. Enter a course title or search for "MSTCLANT NORF."
3. Click on submit under Basic Course/Location & Navy eLearning Search Report.
4. Click on specific Course CIN/CDP/Schedules/Quotas for information.
