DAHLGREN, Va. (Sept. 25, 2023) Surface Combat Systems Training Command AEGIS Training and Readiness Center’s Warfare Tactics Instructor Lt. Robert Joiner provides a training demonstration in the Reconfigurable Combat Information Center Trainer (RCT) to cadets from Stafford High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps during their visit to Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, Sept. 25. The RCT is part of the Director, Surface Warfare’s (OPNAV N96) program of record, Surface Training Advanced Virtual Environment-Combat Systems. These systems are the culmination of eight years of investment in training technologies, devices, and facilities to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and availability of all surface training. Per OPNAVINST 3710.37A: Because the consequences of assigning an anthropometrically incompatible crewmember to an aircraft can be both costly and potentially catastrophic, waivers shall not be submitted nor considered for prospective Naval Aviators/Naval Flight Officers.

Sitting Eye Height – derived from a calculation based on Sitting Height. Used to determine applicant’s ability to see over the instrument panel in all flight conditions.

SEH-TTR – derived from a calculation based on Sitting Eye Height and Thumb Tip Reach.

Pre-Commissioned Applicants: Once found anthropometrically incompatible, the applicant should receive a repeat measurement under the supervision of a naval flight surgeon. If the subsequent measurement results in compatibility, the applicant can continue with the aviation flight physical. If the applicant is again found anthropometrically incompatible for Aviation, the applicant will receive the opportunity to receive a final re-measure from the Anthropometrics Model Manager at NASC in Pensacola, Florida.

Post-Commissioned Applicants: Once found anthropometrically incompatible, the applicant will receive a repeat measurement by the Anthropometrics Model Manager at NASC. If found anthropometrically incompatible, applicant could be attrited from the Aviation Training Pipeline, and sent to a Redesignation Board.
