U.S. Naval Submarine School staff member named Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Service Person of the Month

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Gabriel William Muscella, a native of Deltona, Florida, was named the Service Person of the Month by the Chamber of Commerce of Easter Connecticut’s Military Affairs Council during a ceremony held in Niantic, Connecticut, Sept. 13, 2022.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Gabriel William Muscella, a native of Deltona, Florida, was named the Service Person of the Month by the Chamber of Commerce of Easter Connecticut’s Military Affairs Council during a ceremony held in Niantic, Connecticut, Sept. 13, 2022.

During the ceremony, Muscella, and his wife Audrey, were honored by several members of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and the U.S. Naval Submarine School. Muscella was recognized for his outstanding work as an instructor in the U.S Naval Submarine School machinist’s mate maintenance department and his time as a building manager at the school. He was also recognized for his time as a coach for several local children’s sports teams and his community volunteer work.
Capt. Eric Sager, commanding officer of the U.S. Naval Submarine School, awarded Muscella the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his professional achievement and superior performance as an instructor at the school and as a building manager.

“Muscella’s exceptional professionalism and dedication to the U.S. Naval Submarine School shows the amazing job our staff is doing across the school,” said Sager. “Muscella’s unrelenting perseverance to excel as a submariner, instructor, building manager, husband, coach, and father are what makes him an excellent member of the U.S. Navy to highlight as person of the month.

The U.S. Naval Submarine School builds a foundation upon which officers and enlisted personnel are prepared to develop the competence and proficiency in skills necessary to operate and maintain the Navy’s submarines. The school is part of the Navy’s Submarine Learning Center and is located aboard the Naval Submarine Base New London, located in Groton, Connecticut.
