Joint Engineer Operations Course (JEOC)
Course Description:
AF#: 4A-F16/030-F20 (Phase 1 of 2)
Joint Engineer Operations Couse
(Distance Learning Phase 1)
Course Scope:
The Joint Engineer Operations Course (JEOC) is a joint course recognized by the Joint Staff J7. Phase 1 consists of 24 hours of distance learning (dL) online education. Phase 1 incorporates principles of the Army Learning Model through delivery of knowledge based curriculum that provides the knowledge and skills for Joint Engineer staff officers. Phase 1 enhances the abilities of students to participate in the practical exercises and directed discussions, and comprehend the information provided by Joint and Service doctrine during Phase 2. This is accomplished through lessons which teach or reinforce Strategic National tasks and Command and Staff Operational tasks that are required to support staff engineer operations. The JEOC (Phase 1) provides a basic understanding of the capabilities and organization of the engineer forces of the United States Military in order to better prepare them for duty on a staff in support of a Joint Task Force (JTF) Engineer, Joint Force Commander (JFC), or Combatant Command Staff (COCOM).
AF#: 4A-F16/030-F20 (Phase 2 of 2)
Joint Engineer Operations Couse
(Resident Phase 2)
Course Scope:
The Joint Engineer Operations Course (JEOC) is a joint course recognized by the Joint Staff J7. Phase 2 consists of 37 hours of resident instruction. It incorporates the new Army Learning Model supporting blended learning. In this resident phase, Service members will build on the knowledge gained through distributed learning in the application of 19 hours of facilitator led small group conference discussion and associated practical exercises (PE) and 18 hours of Joint Task Force Engineer (JTF) seminar discussion via VTC, guest speaker or panel discussions. The seven Seminars are aligned with six PE's built around likely JTF scenarios that will require the student to develop and demonstrate their ability to apply the correct solution set to given scenarios based on different Service Engineer Capabilities. PE&aposs include: Service Engineer Capabilities, Engineer Support Plan, Horizontal Staff Integration, Joint Engineer Functions, Facilities Engineering and Joint Engineer Considerations in Unified Action. Other topics are presented via SME or VTC, such as Geographic Combatant Command (GCC) Engineer presentations, Senior Engineer (JSJ4) discussion, presentations by USAID & OFDA, and Senior Service Engineer Briefs (Flag Officer). The JEOC provides students with an improved understanding of the capabilities and organization of the engineer forces of the United States in order to better prepare them for their duty on a staff in support of the JTF Engineer, Service Component Command (SCC), Joint Force Commander (JFC) or GCC Staff.
