Student Check-In

Entry-level Supply Corps students will check-in with the education counselor, (401) 841-4819, located on the first deck of the Navy Supply Corps School, between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, in dress blues/whites (seasonal). If checking in after hours, contact the command duty officer at (601) 479-5775.

All other students will report directly to their classroom no later than 7:45 a.m. at the Navy Supply Corps School, 1378 Porter Ave., Newport, R.I. 02841. Classroom assignments will be posted on the marquee located at the east entrance to the schoolhouse. The NSCS command duty officer is available 24/7 at (601) 479-5775.

Orders Requirements

Students will be expected to turn in a copy of their approved travel orders the first morning of the class convening date. Failure to provide the instructor with a hard copy of their travel orders by 12:00 p.m. of the class convening date will result in the student's disenrollment from the course.

Training

All incoming students (except HAZMAT) are required to complete the latest DoD Cyber Awareness training.  This may be completed through Navy eLearning. Type in “DoD Cyber Awareness” and then click the button to enroll and launch the training. Bring a hard copy of your completed certificate with you to the Navy Supply Corps School.

If you do NOT have a CAC card, go to the DoD Cyber Exchange to complete the latest “Cyber Awareness Challenge” training and bring a hard copy of your certificate with you to the Navy Supply Corps School.

Transportation

Individuals without a Personally Owned Vehicle (POV) or rental car to Naval Station Newport are advised to utilize local taxi/shuttle services. For further taxi/shuttle information, please email nscs_nwpt_courseinformation@us.navy.mil. If utilizing shuttle services, advance notice to the taxi/shuttle service is strongly recommended.

Lodging

For booking reservations, go to Navy Gateway Inns & Suites Naval Station Newport  or call 1-877-NAVY-BED (628-9233).

If base lodging is not available and a Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA) is issued, a rental car will be necessary for students to get on/off base. Military personnel who obtain off-base lodging without first receiving a CNA via telephone or upon arrival from NGIS Newport may be responsible for the difference between the CBQ rates and their off-base lodging costs.

Meal Rate

Officer and enlisted members performing Temporary Duty (TEMDU) or Temporary Duty Under Instruction (TEMDUINS) while stationed aboard Naval Station Newport are authorized the proportional meal rate (PMR) of per diem. This authorization is for active duty members as well as reserve members performing Active Duty Training (ADT).
