Rear Adm. Peter Garvin visits the Center for Surface Combat Systems Great Lakes.

The seal of Training Support Department (TSD) Hawaii originates with the traditional closed rope circle signifying the unity of the team it represents. The three stars flanking either side of TSD Hawaii, positions us in the middle of U.S. 3rd Fleet, our area of responsibility. The operational forces we strive to support are represented: submarine, surface and naval air forces and all their supporting elements. Their heading is to the west, providing the Forward Deployed Naval Force, in support of our nation’s interests. In the background, the world renowned landmark of Diamond Head and the picturesque rainbow associated with Hawaii signify the Navy’s “Best Homeport.” Rising from the east, the sun breaks a new day and embarks a new opportunity to provide the training and education support necessary to keep our fleet the most formidable maritime force the world has ever known.
