Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

NROTC Navy Program Option

The NROTC Navy Program Option is for applicants who are looking to pursue a career as a Navy Officer in an Unrestricted Line community. Upon graduation Navy Option Midshipmen, are assigned as a Surface Warfare Officer, Naval Aviator/Naval Flight Officer, Submarine Officer, Special Operations Officer, or as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer. 

During training in an NROTC Unit Midshipmen gradually acquire the skills and knowledge required to become an Ensign in the United States Navy over the course of their time in the NROTC program. The Navy Option training is designed to supplement the fundamental NROTC leadership and technical curriculum as well as the summer cruises in educating midshipmen on their potential career opportunities as a Naval officer.
